Calling all Workplace Health Professionals!

The Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition (OHWC) is once again announcing its call for nominations for the Steering Committee for the 2-year term commencing April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2011.

The Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition (OHWC) is an independent, not-for-profit body. The OHWC serves as a unifying structure across the province, helping to facilitate communication among workplace health stakeholders, coordinating resources to address duplication and gaps, and promoting the importance of using a comprehensive approach to create healthy and safe workplaces in Ontario.

At this time, we ask that you give serious consideration to all members interested in supporting the development of OHWC as you seek to nominate (and elect) its Steering
Committee.

The Nomination Process:

1. Call for nominations will open on Monday December 1, 2008 at 9:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

2. Criteria for nomination:


Candidates and members of OHWC must reside or work in Ontario.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to advancing workplace health by
confirming organizational permission/commitment to participate.
Candidates must be able to commit to attend a minimum of six of the eight
yearly meetings.

3. Each nominee will submit a short biography and statement of interest (150-180 words) describing their background in workplace health, and why they are interested in being part of the Steering Committee. This statement might address priorities or issues facing the OHWC, suggestions for new initiatives, strategic partnerships or other
pertinent information concerning the future of OHWC.

4. You can either self-nominate or nominate another name prior to the closing of
nominations. Nominators are asked to check with the person they are nominating as a
courtesy.

5. You can submit multiple nominations (i.e., you can complete this nomination form
numerous times in order to nominate multiple people to the Steering Committee).

6. Anyone member actively engaged in workplace health promotion in Ontario is eligible for nomination.

Election Process:

1. Election polls will be open from Wednesday February 18, 2009, 9:00 am to Wednesday March 4, 2009, 5:00 pm.

2. To vote, individuals must register for a free, short-term membership via the
OHWC website. Prior to the election time period, individuals will be e-mailed the
voting pass code for their one individual vote.

3. All nominees will be presented on the OHWC web site with a short biography and
photo for the benefit of the electorate.

4. The Secretariat will inform the newly elected or re-elected Steering Committee
members by Friday March 6, 2009.

5. The new Steering Committee members will be officially announced at the
Workplace Health Symposium held in Toronto on March 12, 2009.

6. The Steering Committee ensures adequate representation across sectors on the
Committee. If there is inadequate representation across sectors, the Nomination
Committee will solicit individuals from specific sectors to fill gaps on Steering
Committee as “members at large”.
