Ledcor Mining and Contractors groups require Health Safety & Environmental Protection Coordinators for its projects in Matachewan, Ontario. The Coordinator reports directly to the Project Manager. This position is integral in leading health and safety and managing Ledcor’s Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Program within the projects scope of work.
Responsibilities:
Provides input relative to Ledcor’s safety goals and establishment of a long-term safety culture. Provides input in the development of Project Specific Safety Programs.
Identifies and assists in development of HS&E programs and work practices and conduct education and training to Ledcor employees in health and safety topics
Participates with health and safety audits of project worksites, both for internal safety award programs and Provincial Certificate of Recognition (COR) programs. Works with the Senior Management and Project Managers/ Superintendents regarding the review and development of Ledcor safety policies and procedures and act as a technical safety resource.
Represents Ledcor in meetings relating to HS&E with clients and consultants and participates with local safety associations in matters related to the promotion of health and safety and other local government regulatory matters.
Liaises with regulatory authorities to promote safety.
Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a Safety role in the Mining or Construction industry. Be pursuing CRSP or currently possess accreditation.
Have a thorough knowledge of common mining and construction practices, techniques and equipment Have a thorough knowledge of local government Health & Safety Acts, Policies, Regulations, Codes and Practices as they apply to the mining and construction industry
Have above-average interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills
Possess good problem solving skills through the exercise of good judgement
Have superior organizational / time management skills
Have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all personnel and Ledcor business matters
Possess a valid Drivers License with a good driving record
Possess working proficiency with select Microsoft Office productivity computer programs, including Windows XP, Word, Explorer, and Outlook, and have basic keyboarding skills.
