I am trying to determine if the CSA and ASTM foot protection standards can be considered equivalent under Ontario Reg. 851 Section 2.

It appears that the CSA Grade I impact standard is slightly higher than the ASTM Class 75 footwear (125J versus 101.7J) However, the ASTM standard has a compression test that the CSA standard doesn't seem to have.

I am having trouble sourcing CSA-approved shoes that are composite toe rather than steel that also have to meet static dissipative requirements.

Thanks,

Stephanie, there is no requirement in Ontario's Ind Reg 851 for CSA approved foot protection. So I wouldn't be concerned about CSA vs ASTM standards.

851 simply states:

82. A worker exposed to the hazard of foot injury shall wear foot protection appropriate in the circumstances. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851, s. 82.

For example, "appropriate" foot protection could be closed toed shoes for a waiter/waitress.
