BC Food Processors Health and Safety Council (BCFPHSC)

HEALTH AND SAFETY AUDITORS
The BCFPHC is looking for experienced Health and Safety professionals to conduct Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification audits.
Role Description
The incumbent will carry out comprehensive third party audits of client Health and Safety Management systems using the BCFPHSC COR audit tool and forward their findings to the BCFPHSC for approval.
Auditor Licensing
Auditors that meet the prequalification criteria will undergo a licensing process that will comprise of a mandatory week long training program to familiarize them with the BCFPHSC COR Audit standards and other program requirements. Individuals that do not have sufficient work experience in the food processing industry will be required to enroll in a 1day training session to familiarize them with food processing specific hazards prior to the Auditor training course. Auditors will be qualified after the successful completion of a student audit.
Prequalification criteria
At least three years professional experience exclusively in Health and Safety.
Professional Occupational Health and Safety designation (CRSP or equivalent)
Safety management systems knowledge with auditing experience / background of the food processors industry.
**Successful candidates will be selected based on the prequalification criteria and participate in a skills testing and interview process
Essential Job Functions:
Analyzes records and documentation for accuracy and compliance with established standards.
Conducts field audits to verify:
o records comply with legislation and regulation,
o company safe operating procedures are being followed by workers, and
o supervision and assessments are being carried out.
Plans and executes audits to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls on the health and safety of workers in the food processors operations.
Manages standard audit engagements, insuring proper coverage and evaluations of key principles and practices. Conducts audit planning, risk and control assessment evaluations, proper documentation methods and Company interviews.
Prepares comprehensive report with recommendations, continuous improvement comments for client to improve the level of safety system management within a company.
Participates in meetings with clients for the purpose of presenting audit findings and recommendations.
Conducts themselves in a manner consistent with the promotion of cooperation and good relations between auditors and the sector following the Auditor Code of Ethics.
