View Full Version : Hardhat stickers
Okay, so everyone and their dog issues hardhat stickers. You've taken our onsite course? Sticker. Did a good job? Sticker. Part of my work team/project? Sticker.
I've been asked to source some hardhat stickers to reinforce our hazard recognition, assessesment, and control process. I've informed the supplier that we require stickers that will not degrade a hardhat.
But I still have folks who insist we shouldn't be putting stickers on hardhats.
Thoughts people?
Thanks,
Carol
Hi Carol
I would let them look at the CSA standard (Z94.1-05). Two thoughts on this..1- stickers make it harder to inspect the shell for defects..especially when it gets covered with them or 2-consult with the manufacturer as referenced in the standard. Good luck, we went through some of this earlier this year. I would likely use another method of communicating your program.

Hi,
How about a book along the lines of a Passport... training dates etc could be added. The employee carries that with them and would produce it when needed.

Hi there. Stickers are a great motivational tools, everyone loves them. They really do not degrade the hardhat, however, if inspecting the hardhat, do so from the inside of the dome. Besides, we have a policy to replace hardhats every year, and/or when ever hit against a hard surface ie: dropped from any significant height. I would suggest only stickers that relate to the workers job be allowed on the hardhat...that would eliminate the excessive company decals that tend to overpower the hat.
Happy Holidays!

Our department only allows two stickers on our hardhats. DOT logo and a "Think Safety" sticker.

Our policy is every five years unless it's had a impact etc. I think that most hardhat manufacturers recommend replacing every five years.
