POSITION NUMBER: 107066
POSITION OUTLINE:
Under the direction of the EHS Advisor, Chemical and Laboratory Safety, the EHS Associate assists with the implementation of protocols related to the use, transport, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. The EHS Associate coordinates and documents safety training for research laboratory workers and other handlers of hazardous materials; implements and maintains the Hazardous Material Emergency Signage Program; and supports the EHS Advisor during emergencies. The position participates in minor incident investigations and assists with follow-up; prepares documentation for regulatory chemical reports; coordinates Transportation of Dangerous Goods training; and obtains details on electrical certification of equipment and the certification of medical devices. In addition, the EHS Associate provides back-up support for the implementation of the Biosafety and the Trades and Construction Safety programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or two years towards an undergraduate degree with a minimum of one year of related experience in occupational health and safety, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Good knowledge of occupational health and safety and related regulations.
Able and willing to learn new computing technology.
Excellent planning and coordinating skills.
Excellent communication (written, oral, and presentation) skills.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Ability to coordinate and accurately document processes and certification.
Salary range: $47,199 - $56,364 per annum
START DATE: ASAP
