A service-driven paper and packaging products company. Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Employing more approximately 1200 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to plan, lead, coordinate and monitor a proactive and prevention-oriented health and safety program. This position will involve travel to various locations in the GTA.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership in developing, communicating and implementing a vision for occupational health and safety within the organization.
Is responsible for development and delivery of the company-wide Health and Safety program
Manages all WSIB claims
Manages revisions of the HACCP program.
Determine/coordinate an appropriate ESRTW goal with the employee and the relevant site leadership, provide active support for the return-to work planning process between the employee and their supervisor and intervene when necessary
Leads accident/incident and compliance investigations, initiating corrective action and verifying completion
Is the Company representative for all M.O.L safety requirements, and issues.
Develops, coordinates and facilitates the implementation of an effective health and safety management system that complies with all applicable legislative requirements, best practices, and corporate requirements.
Coordinates and leads Safety Group functions. Uses Workwell audit criteria to be able to develop and implement internal safety audit processes.
Utilizes key performance indicators to monitor safety performance.
Uses data collection and analysis to communicate health and safety trends and statistics and subsequent action plans.
Requirements:
Must be able to work collaboratively with all levels within the organization
Completion of health and safety degree or certificate/diploma and professional designation (CIH, ROH, COHN, CRSP)
Minimum of 5 years leading health and safety in a unionized manufacturing setting
In-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and standards in the province of Ontario
Passion for Health and Safety
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and Access),
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time-management, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Desire to be hands on and “on the floor”
Commitment to professional learning and development.
