Position Title:

Golder Associates is seeking a H&S Coordinator to provide full H&S support services within the GTA Operations and implementing H&S.

Responsibilities:

• Participating in the development of new H&S strategies, systems and programs as a member of the GTA and Ontario Region H&S Team;
• Ensuring office H&S initiatives are aligned with Regional & National objectives.
• Working directly with the Management team, Project Managers and Field Employees to ensure their satisfaction and understanding of H&S initiatives;
• Providing guidance and support to the GTA employees in implementing the GAL H&S Management System;
• Working with Human Development regarding H&S orientation and training, managing WSIB claims, policies, information and administration.
• Assisting Group H&S representatives to address concerns: preparation of site specific H&S plans, site inspections, emergency response, hazard assessments, etc.
• Providing regulatory compliance support;
• Providing Technical Support to Office Operations team and Joint Health and Safety Committee's;
• Assisting to ensuring compliance with H&S initiatives and practices;
• Assisting the Ontario region in the tracking and reporting of H&S performance and stats;
• Coordinate and delivering H&S training and maintaining up to date documentation at the office level
• Investigating incidents and assisting with corrective actions;
• Building consensus among stakeholder groups;
• Performing work site visits and inspections in a wide variety of locations.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• H&S
o High commitment to safe work practices;
o Possessing an in-depth understanding of H&S principles and practices;
o Post-secondary diploma or degree in H&S, engineering and /or sciences;
o Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation or working towards meeting eligibility requirements;
o 7-10 years full time experience in H&S in a large multi faceted operation;
• Communication:
o Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
o Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organisation, exhibiting diplomacy and tact
• Planning and Organizational Skills:
o Good problem solver with the ability to identify alternative and practical solutions;
o Strong team player, self motivated, proactive thinker, flexible and adaptable;
o Good time management skills and able to effectively prioritize;
o Solid planning and organisational skills, with high level of detail orientation;
o Must be able to meet tight deadlines, multi-task and work well under pressure;
o Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities and to deal with ambiguity in a rapidly changing environment;
• Available for business travel and extended working hours, when required;
• Valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record.
• First Aid / CPR / AED training, beneficial.
• Proficiency in: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience in areas in which Golder provides services, particularly mining.
