41st Annual Conference
"United by a Common Vision"
October 4-7, 2010

PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to announce the 41th annual conference of the Association of Canadian Ergonomists (ACE). Recognizing that ergonomics/human factors professionals and allied professions are "United by a Common Vision" of creating healthy, user-friendly, safe and efficient products and workplaces, the conference will explore the methods and experiences that we collectively employ to achieve that vision. ACE 2010 will be of interest to ergonomics/human factors professionals and members of allied professions, including: safety, health, rehabilitation, industrial hygiene, industrial design, human resources, psychology, engineering, usability, user experience and facility planning.
The technical programme will include keynotes, research, case studies and interactive exchange on a range of topics spanning physical, cognitive, behavioural, and organizational sciences as they relate to our Common Vision. Topic streams are anticipated to include:
- Prevention of work-related injury
- Human factors investigation techniques
- User-centred design and the user experience
- Healthcare ergonomics and human factors
Information exchange may take the form of oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, symposia sessions, workshops, and informal networking sessions. Abstract and workshop proposal submission guidelines will be available on the ACE website at www.ace-ergocanada.ca by September 30, 2009. Contributions are welcome in English or French.
The conference venue is the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna, British Columbia (www.coastcaprihotel.com ). Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Okanagan in the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is well known for its fruit production and wineries. The conference dates of October 4-7, 2010 are scheduled to coincide with the Annual Okanagan Fall Wine Festival, running from October 1-11, 2010. Choose to partake in the conference social programme or head out on your own to explore the regions wineries, the historic Kettle Valley Railway, or play a round of golf.
