POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for building and maintaining the current and interpreted global EHS data, this role is pivotal to proactive intervention and liaison with the EHS regional teams, OD, Legal and BRC. This information will be critical in updating our gap analysis and minimum standards to ensure compliance. Clear action plans can then be tracked to ensure consistency and accountability in timelines.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Subject matter expert on global EHS legislation requirements.
Develop and manage relationships between Strategic Integration and Operations for the implementation of the EHS Management System.
Member of OD cross functional team for New Entities and Acquisition Process.
Research and maintain all aspects of EHS legislation (Safety, Organizational Health, Ergonomics/Wellness, Environment and Emergency and Disaster Planning) providing interpretation and application direction to EHS functional groups.
Provide seasoned senior level advice to Operational groups for the development and implementation of EHS Management System.
Ensure regional EHS professionals meet and are aligned with training and professional accreditation/designation to meet regional legislative requirements to carry out RIM EHS program development and implementation.
Initiate and manage collaborative relationship with RIM legal to meet and maintain EHS compliance at the operational and internal EHS functional levels
Investigate the requirements for the regional EHS professionals to meet and where possible align with training and professional accreditation/designation to carry out RIM EHS program development and implementation within the legislative requirements.
Create and operationalize tools (legislative matrix which will feed into the SMS program/Gap Analysis) to measure metrics as identified, create action plans for remedial actions and their implementation, for the purposes of continuous improvement.
Lead the integration of the EHS SMS (ISO 18001) with RIM's existing Quality (ISO 9000) and Environmental (ISO 14001) Management Systems working closely with QMS and the Government Relations Team (CSR).
Build and maintain cross functional relationships with other OD functional groups to advice on EHS compliance requirements ensuring EHS is captured at the appropriate point in RIM OD processes (trying to capture the linkages required with recruitment pre-offer/post offer, BRC )
Develop internal EHS processes to enhance the execution of the EHS Management System and drive requirements to verify during gap analyses.
Provide recommendations to optimize EHS internal processes and compliance requirements based on global EHS best practices.
Perform compliance gap analysis on the integrated Management Systems (Quality/Safety/Environment) as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
Minimum 10-12 years of operational and research experience in EHS
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply global EHS legislation, regulations, codes and standards, global experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge and application of ISO management systems (9002/14001/18001)
Ability to engage and effectively develop strategic relationships and lead people.
Strong investigative, analytical, human relations and communication skills required
To formulate proposals, business case and auditing parameters.
Project Management skills
Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long-range goals
Current recognized professional designation in Health and Safety (CRSP/CSP)
Able to multitask and integrate multiple pieces of data into a streamlined process.
