We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator for our Deluxe Toronto locations.
Under the guidance and reporting to the Manager, Facilities, EH&S, the Health and Safety Coordinator will assist in meeting obligations for environmental compliance and the health and safety of all facility employees. The incumbent will monitor the workplace to ensure product, equipment, materials and processes are in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act; conduct physical demands analysis, and implement and monitor modified work programs to permit early and safe return to work for WSIB and Short Term Disability claims.
Key Responsibilities
Monitors workplace to ensure equipment, material and processes are in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and environmental standards; investigates work related accidents and illnesses; modifies safety policies as required; prepares and publishes company health and safety manual
Acts as company's certified health and safety representative; chairs and documents Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
Request Functional Abilities Evaluation, Ergonomic Assessment and Independent Medical Evaluation as required
Liases with management, employees, government and safety associations such as the Ministry of Labour and WSIB
Provides environment, health and safety training to employees
Conducts new employee orientation with introduction to environment, health and safety and WHMIS
Designs return to work programs in consultation with employee, manager and treating healthcare practitioners, ergonomists, family physicians and medical specialists
Determines, implements and maintains safety and environmental training needs/programs or outsources as required for all employees
Provides education and support to managers and employees
Other duties as required
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years health and safety experience including WSIB claims management, NEER, early and safe return to work programs, and Workwell Audits in a manufacturing environment
Degree or diploma in health and safety
Certification (or active pursuit of membership) with the Canadian Association for Registered Safety Professionals
Prior experience with modified work programs
Current Standard First Aid Certificate
Thorough knowledge and understanding of WSIA legislation and Occupational Health and Safety Act and familiar with the Human Rights Code of Ontario
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Computer proficiency with MS Office
Demonstrated comprehension of WHMIS, full trainer competency
