Full-time Advisor, Health, Safety & Environment

The Advisor, Health, Safety and Environment works under the direction of the National Manager, Health, Safety & Environment in providing guidance to managers and employees in the area of safety and legislation pertaining to operational compliance. This role is integral in the development, implementation and maintenance of Safety & Industrial Management System programs.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in defining and supporting the VitalAire Canada HSE program.
Keeps HSE Manager apprised of changes in occupational health & safety legislation.
Maintains the company zero accident objectives nationally, assists in recording all incidents related to health, safety and environment ensuring prompt analysis and workable solutions.
Accumulates data, tracks completion and compiles reports on national safety action plans.
Administers national Near Miss Reporting program including analysis and reporting.
Communicates on an as-needed basis with Managers and employees as a safety resource and intermediary to the HSE Manager.
Administration of the corporate safety site on the intranet.
Manages the administration and collection of all health and safety related documentation required by Air Liquide.
Assists in researching, writing and revising policies and procedures, safety communications and training documents.
Assist with the development, implementation, presentation and evaluation of training materials as required and maintains training documentation.
Maintains safety boards and safety information posted throughout the corporate office; coordinates distribution of safety materials to other VitalAire locations.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
· Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, with 2-5 years of experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· A through knowledge of national Health and Safety Acts, pertinent regulations, codes and standards.
· Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
· Results orientated analytical thinker with strong problem solving abilities.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.
· Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Enthusiastic and dynamic team player.
· Bilingual (French and English) is considered an asset.
