HSC: Job Posting: Safety/Health Supervisor - Eastern Ontario POSITION: Safety/Health Supervisor
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for training employees, contractors, part time employees and onsite visitors and monitoring plant environments to assure compliance with Corporate and governmental requirements regarding health and safety.
REPORTS TO: Health and Safety Superintendent
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES:
1. Administer the Corporate Safety/Health Program at Two Plants. Ensure compliance with Corporate policy.
2. Make safety and health inspections and issue notice of violation when necessary. Enforce the use of personal protection devices, and provide discipline when appropriate.
3. Conduct respirable dust and noise sampling/surveying on corporate approved schedule for each plant. Provide appropriate reporting documentation for each.
4. Develop, implement and maintain a program to obtain employee physicals and chest x-rays. Recommend corrective action to be taken when necessary.
5. Schedule pre-employment physicals and schedule appropriate training for new hires.
6. Ensure compliance with all Federal and provincial safety rules and regulations.
7. Administer the plants’ fire security program, and grounds security program.
8. Participate on mine rescue team or first response team.
9. Monitor Worker’s Compensation claims for accuracy and minimize costs.
10. Provide the appropriate safety material for monthly meetings for each plant. Maintain records that identify training completed by each supervisor and each employee. Make certain each plant holds formal safety meetings for all employees each month and assure compliance with training requirements.
11. Investigate accidents and propose plans to prevent recurrence. Accident investigation should be conducted as soon as possible.
12. Participate on both plants’ joint safety/ Health Committees. Conduct tours and develop corrective action to resolve deficiencies.
13. Oversee the plants’ visitor sign-in procedure and Hazard training Program.
14. Serve on industry committee for safety and health as required.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary range: $70k-$75k
