Greetings,
Does anyone have or know of a database program for MSDS specific for WHMIS in Canada? We are currently using an excel spreadsheet to allow quick searching of our on site chemicals but it is a bit clumsy and before I spend weeks converting it to a database I wanted to see if there was anything out there already set up for Canadian standards.

Cheers,
Dan Plant

Dan - just an FYI - CCOHS has an MSDS Management Service - more information is available here (http://www.ccohs.ca/products/msds/msdsservice.html). But before I say anymore, Cecilia Bailey from CCOHS could explain it much better than I ever could. If you're interested, she can be reached at ceciliab@ccohs.ca

I had looked at the CCOHS package but the cost might be a bit too high. I've put it in the list to discuss with the H&S manager, thanks for the tip.

3M has a pretty good database for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the tip, do you have a product name for 3M? I've done a quick search of the US and Canadian sites and can't find anything.

Dan

Sorry, it is not 3M it is 3E, you can access it at MSDS.com. You get 5 free viewings and then it is $40 a year.

Thanks for the reference, it looks interesting although I would imagine the price for MSDS management would be significant.

Good Day;
Safety Check Consulting has developed a user friendly, easy to use 'WHMIS Management' (c) software program currently in use throughout Canada. http://safetycheckconsulting.com/index_files/MSDS.html (http://safetycheckconsulting.com/index_files/MSDS.html)

Thanks for the link; it looks interesting. I'll have to see what kind of database it uses as we are looking to connect it to our intranet.

Cheers,
Dan

Thank you for your interest. The program utilizes an SQL database. Feel free to download the demo program

The program itself uses an SQL database and you control its content. MSDS files themselves are simply downloaded from the supplier/manufacturer. Feel free to download the demo or contact me through the page email address.
