View Full Version : Fire Evacuation Plans
We are moving into a new building coming Monday and I need to make up some fire evacuation plans for the office space. Does anyone know of a good website were I could get a template or something that I could follow? I have never had to do one up as I have always been in buildings that have them already. Any help would be awesome.
THANKS!
Hi Anna
Your local fire marshal/department may have some templates.
Thanks Owen I tried that and its been almost a week with no return call...I might give them till next week and see what happens.

Here is the website for the Office of the Fire Marshal, in Ontario. I have used this as resource for creating a fire plan for our industrial establishment.
If you are not in Ontario I am sure that the other provinces would have a similar site.

When I was creating our fire plan I searched in the internet for examples of fire plans many companies have their plans on the web. Using those and the information from the Fire Marshal's office, help me greatly

Hi Anna,
Check with our local Fire Department and their Prevention Services or Fire Inspection Department.
They are likely the best first point to go to.
If not, I would go with a search on the same and see what comes up from various websites and companies out there that do post it on their site.

Hi Anna,
I see from your profile that you are in Calgary - try contacting the Fire Prevention Bureau (part of the Calgary Fire Department) - they are usually very helpful in planning.

I do mine in MS Powerpoint.
On a previous occasion I got the architectural technician to save the plans in .pdf format and then added text boxes to indicate the routes out and muster points.

Hi,
Try the site below to help you build a Fire Safety Plan. The template helps to build a plan from the building owners persepective but would still be applicable for a tenant.

The link given (http://www.ofmem.ca) is not correct as this provides templates for Emergency Procedures for various occupancies, etc. These requirements far exceed what is required for a building Fire Safety Plan (Provincial requirement), or for an Emergency Evacuation Plan (Canadian OHS).
There are a few options:
1) Work with your location Fire Department,
2) Contact a company that specializes in preparing fire safety plans.
There is a common misconception that fire safety plans are just templates. They should not be, as all buildings are different, with different occupants, construction, systems, etc.
Your provincial Fire Code specifies in Section 2.8, what is required by the fire safety plan, and for what occupancies fire safety plans are required.
Hope this helps.

at CU,we have 1 fire alarm test per semester. But, we are confident that residents will know what to do when a fire is in their building. Also, the RAs had a heavy heavy informational lecture about fire safety during RA training. hope this helps. _____________________________________Website I designed for money advance (http://www.paydaytown.com) company.

Hello,
Since you have moved into a new office building I suggest that you ask your property manager for the building for a copy of their Fire Evacuation plan for the building. Many landlords and the property managers that run the building will already have a comprehensive plan in place that would include more than just fire evacuation. Property managers will also send out an orientation package to a new tenant that includes this information - your office manager, president, whomever signed the lease, may already have the orientation package.
Also, it is important that you link your fire evacuation with the property manager since they are usually first on-scene (building operator in the building) and in fact work closely with the fire department in the fire evacuation plan.
Just my two cents,
